Celebrating Spring and New beginnings

Basant means Spring and is about celebrating the commencement of Spring, new beginning and hope after winter. The Perth Basant Festival is a day filled with activities to bring the community together and share all of the wonderful cultures we have in Western Australia.

The aim of the Festival is to bring people from different communities and local businesses together, to provide you with a fun filled multicultural event. The Festival day is filled with activities for everyone, rides, free kite making and flying, delicious food and beverages, market stalls and a stage show of local dancers and performers showcasing their dance styles and culture dances.

The Basant Festival supports the local charity partner Feeding Australia. With all donations upon entry and some varied activities throughout the festival collecting funds for the Homeless people of Perth.

Get involved in 2019

Last year we saw an increase in crowds in excess of 25,000 visitors at Langley Park. The Festival has grown annually with it’s stall holders, food vendors, children’s and adult activities as well as the quality and variety of dance entertainment on stage. The stage show includes a dance competition and audience interactive performances. Come and join the Festival as a business, sponsor or performer and give your business some invaluable exposure.

Cultural celebrations such as the Perth Basant Festival are a powerful reminder that our nation has been greatly enriched by the diversity of its people. As you gather for this year’s event, I encourage you to be proud of an Australia where people of different beliefs and backgrounds can be part of our national tradition, and of a united and tolerant nation.

Hon Malcolm Turnbull, Ex. Prime Minister of Australia

I commend So Change Inc for offering the wider community an opportunity to enjoy this vibrant taste of Punjabi culture and to take part in what I am sure will be a fantastic and memorable day for all the community. The West Australian Indian and Pakistani communities have added immense depth and richness to Western Australia’s multicultural society, and the Basant Festival is likely to become a special highlight on our cultural calendar.

Hon Colin Barnett, Ex. Premier of Western Australia

Every year So Change Inc organizes the Perth Basant Festival to mark the coming of spring – a time historically favoured for new beginnings. The Festival aims to showcase the diversity of Multicultural West Australian music, food, arts & culture and bringing people together in celebration of life itself.
